Patience is a Virtue - Marie Day

To be a paragon of virtue would be great.
To be a patient lady and not get in a state.

To have a bit of empathy with life’s frustrating times.
When all you want to do is rant and rave when life gives limes!

I know it should be lemons for moments that turn sour
But sitting thinking of a rhyme – I hadn’t a spare hour!

AI’ve been told quite clearly until the cows come home
That good things come to those who wait – chill out, don’t fret, don’t moan!

Give it time, be tolerant, just smile and say ‘hey ho’.
Focus on new challenges, for goodness sake, let go!

These people really make me mad. They make me want to shout.
My face takes on a scarlet hue; my eyes on stalks pop out!

So, calling for help spiritual to calm persistent rage,
I look to heavenly assistance my anger to assuage.

So, praying to St. Monica I’m told who patiently
Spent seventeen, long, dreary years cast down on bended knee.

To bring her wayward son to heel, cast aside his foolish ways.
I’m not sure it would help that much. I’d not give seventeen days!

I would forget for goodness sake pursuit of virtue great.
I’ve definitely come to think that patience is -

ABSOLUTELY
PROFOUNDLY
TOTALLY
COMPLETELY
HARDLY WORTH THE WAIT!
