My Neighbour - Joan Bond
I am sitting with my neighbour
a hundred she’ll be this year
we are discussing her bucket list
a bit too long I fear
said she wanted a bunjee jump
right out over the sea
but I have put her off of that one
I’m saving that for me
She will have to give up her motor bike
well I am finding it hard
as I have to sit in the sidecar
as she bumps around the yard
She wants to have a last stand
with her groupies on the drums
we’ve booked the hail the time is right
so we’ll be firing all guns
She is leaving me her flying suit
the goggles and the hat
my son will take one look
and say, you are not keeping that
I might have the tap dance shoes
the TuTu I can wear
I cannot manage the trapeze
but I always love a dare.
She’s now wondering at a cruise
to see polar bears and freeze
thinks it might just finish it off
and then be buried at sea.
I must say she’s a trouper
always had a go
so here’s to Jess, one of the best
The wildest old bird I know.
