Dear Sir,
For a long time I was puzzled by frequent broadcast references, especially in "Arts" programmes, to a man called John Ray.
Eventually it dawned on me that presenters and guests were, in fact, trying to use the word 'genre'.
Would you mind using your influence to persuade the relevant persons that, if they want to use the word, they should retain it's si1ent ending.
